Upon graduating high school at 18, I found myself in a very uncomfortable situation, a single mom! Wow, where do I go from here? I had very few choices at the time and I ultimately decided that the best path for my child and me was to go to college.

 Well in 2003, I graduated from University of California – Davis. It was a lot of work but I finally made it. Now, where do I go from here? Get a job!

I waited tables at several restaurants, worked at a casino, prepared tax returns, etc, but working a job was not going to provide the FREEDOM to choose what I wanted to do with my time or provide the lifestyle I wanted for myself and my son.

 I am fortunate to have been raised in an entrepreneurial and a free spirited family. With this upbringing, I was encouraged to take my ideas and establish businesses to create a comfortable lifestyle. I had the opportunity to start 2 franchises. One in the tanning industry, and the other in the tax industry. Even in 2 completely different fields I experienced the same thing with both.  The overhead was so great that my net profits were only 10-30% of my overall income. Plus, I found myself working more than when I had a normal job. The whole point of owning your own business is to have more time to do the things you enjoy…Right?

Then I ventured out from the norm and I tried several network marketing and MLM programs, but still didn’t provide me with the ultimate FREEDOM I was in search of.

 As long as I can remember, I have been a numbers guy. Upon graduating from Clemson University, with a Finance degree and minor in Accounting, I decided to enter the professional world as an Accountant primarily because the jobs were in demand and it paid a pretty good wage.

Now some 14 years later, I am still in the Finance and Accounting profession and I have done well working in a corporate environment for Fortune 1000 companies located in Chicago, Atlanta, and Alameda, CA. When I say that I have done well, I mean I make a six-figure income, hold a certain amount of prestige with my occupation (if that what really matters to you), and have worked very hard to develop a resume that will keep me gainfully employed.

Although things appear to be going well, there was so much work and sacrifice to stay on top of your job looking to obtain the next promotion and meet your annual objectives, so you can ultimately make your bonus at the end of the year. There was no life-balance; it was all work and really not so much fun. I somehow lost myself for a period of 7-10 years and I felt as though I was missing something. What was I missing? FREEDOM!

I realized that I was not free and I really did not have FULL control over my own success in the corporate world. I was specifically tied to the success of the company and worked just as hard as the CEO of the company, but was not rewarded with the same outrageous “golden parachute” packages.

My ACTION for myself was simple… Find an opportunity that would allow me to make my current income, with a one-fourth of the effort. This would provide me with the FREEDOM I so desired!

Our Path In Free Enterprise… 

Now we do not mind working hard, but we wanted to find a way to work less and make even more money.  We decided to find a way to work 3-4 hours a day and earn a minimum of $250,000 a year within our first year.  We also wanted to be able to make as much money as we wanted.  NO CEILING!  We knew there had to be a way to make this happen. 

We started reading books written Robert Kiyosaki, “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, “The Cash Flow Quadrant”, and others. We realized that my Franchise businesses lacked a SYSTEM that could do the work for me.  A system that could generate us money even while we were doing things other than working, such as spending time with our family and friends, or even vacationing or even sleeping.

We then read that Robert Kiyosaki really liked the Direct Sales Business Model, which was a type of “Network Marketing”.  You see it was the System of a good Direct Sales Business that would allow us to not only make the amount of money that we desired, but more importantly create the LIFESTYLE that we were missing.

Donald Trump teamed up with Robert and wrote another Best Seller, “Why We Want You to be Rich.”  A great read about the vanishing middle class, and why it is disappearing.  Basically both men agree that the middle class is being destroyed due to a “lack of financial education.”  It is a shame that we can tell you that we took many business classes in College but not a single class taught us how to be an entrepreneur or even think like one.  Not a single class taught us how to make money, protect it, and grow it like the wealthy do.  It was quite clear that these two very successful businessmen really like the Direct Sales Industry.  There is even an entire Chapter in the book recommending Direct Sales as a great Business Model due to Systems and relatively low startup costs.  In fact, both of these men state that if they were to start over today, they would both use Direct Sales/Network Marketing to generate their Millions. 

Okay, now this made us really think about our future.

We then did some more research and found that Warren Buffet had recently purchased 6 Direct Sales Companies, and had plans to purchase many more.  In fact, Warren stated that they were some of the Best Investments he had ever made.  When Warren speaks, we listen. 

Now we knew we were on the right track!
